Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) November 5, 2004 -- Amy Biancolli has been honored by Friends of the Albany Public Library as this years Author of the Year. The Albany resident earned the award for her book House of Holy Fools: A Family Portrait in Six Cracked Parts. The book is a memoir of her parents and sister who died unexpectedly and within 26 months of each other in the 1990s. The annual award recognizes a local writer for his or her work. Previous winners include Pulitzer Prize winner William Kennedy, political biographer Paul Grondahl and Biancolli's husband, Christopher D. Ringwald.

Biancolli published House of Holy Fools through Lulu.com (http://www.lulu.com), an on-demand publishing company. It is available for purchase on Lulu at http://www.lulu.com/amybiancolli. One-third of the royalties from sales of the book benefit Emmaus House, a Catholic Worker community that helps homeless immigrant families in the Albany area.

This is an incredible honor for me and my family," says Amy Biancolli. I wrote House of Holy Fools for my children so they could get to know their grandparents and aunt whose lives were tragically cut short. It is both an expression of grief and hope for loved ones lost and memories that live on forever."

Biancolli will be honored at the Author of the Year luncheon on Saturday November 6th, at noon in the main branch of the Albany Public Library. A book signing will follow. For more information contact the Friends of the Albany Public Library at 518-427-4333.
