XaustAlyzer.com's Exhaust Analyzers Feature No-Hassle Combustion Efficiency Measurements

Built-in software delivers intuitive exhaust analysis statistics.

Orange County, CA (PRWEB) October 11, 2005 -- Most combustion gas analyzers provide accurate measurements of exhaust gas components. XaustAlyzer.com's products go a step further by analyzing the gas concentrations to calculate the overall Combustion Efficiency of an engine.

Stated simply, Combustion Efficiency is a measure of how much fuel mixture is burned during the combustion process. It provides a straightforward indication of overall engine performance. The analyzer reports the value as a percentage, which makes the measurement as intuitive as it is useful.

An important corollary to Combustion Efficiency, Lambda is a measurement of the balance of oxygen and fuel in the combustion process. It is calculated by comparing the amount of oxygen to the amount of carbon and hydrogen in the exhaust gas. Lambda is equal to 1 when there is exactly enough oxygen in the fuel mixture to convert all of the carbon atoms to CO2, and all of the hydrogen atoms to H2O.

Lambda, sometimes called Air/Fuel ratio, is independent of Combustion Efficiency and can be measured before or after the catalytic converter. It does not matter if the engine is running well or not.

These two values are very important in engine diagnostics, and XaustAlyzer.com has gas analyzers that will calculate them in real time. With these products, technicians can tell how well air and fuel are being metered and how well the combustion process is proceeding.

The XaustAlyzer.com web site has several white papers that contain more information on the technology behind Lambda, Combustion Efficiency, and how they can be used for diagnostic purposes.
