Texas Sculptors Shed Their Clothes (All of Them!) for Fund Raiser

(PRWEB) October 13, 2005 -- “Those who play together... stay together” is the theme for a new calendar recently released by a group of fine artists from north Texas. Twelve couples, including fifteen Dallas area sculptors, along with their life partners, stripped down to the buff in a dual effort to raise both awareness for the art of sculpture and money for several Texas based art associations.
The calendar project, inspired by the British Garden Club ladies, was the brainchild of sculptor, George Davis, who gathered the sculptors and partners together and did the photography. Another sculptor, Lee Radar, created the layout and design for the project.
"I wanted the public to be aware of the talent we have in our area and thought it would be a good way to raise operating funds, in particular for the Texas Sculpture Association (TSA)," says Davis. Though the project is an independent effort on behalf of the participating artists, proceeds from calendar sales will be donated to the TSA along with several other north Texas art associations.
The calendar is quite tastefully done with a delightful mix of humor and artistic satire, in a dramatic black and white format. Each month features a different couple, both sculptor and life partner or in a few cases, two sculptors who happen to be life partners, in a different setting and using a variety of carefully placed props. The final page of the calendar features a profile of each of the fifteen sculptors with information about where to find their artwork.
The calendar sells for $9.95 and can be previewed and purchased online at www.georgedavisstudio.com, or by calling The Studio at 972-437-3250.
