Palo Duro Records Announces Distribution Deal With Fontana/Universal

Palo Duro Records has announced a new distribution deal between it and Fontana, the recently launched independent distribution arm of Universal Music.

Austin, TX (PRWEB) October 15, 2005 -- Palo Duro Records (“Country Music, Texas Spirit”) has announced a new distribution deal between it and Fontana, the recently launched independent distribution arm of Universal Music that is moving into the Americana genre in a big way, driven in part by El Paso native and former Austin-Arista rep Matt Muñoz.

With the strong and steady growth of Palo Duro’s roster of hit-making Texas musical artists; the spectacular showing in terms of land and satellite radio airplay, touring, and state and national charting by the label’s talent; and the success of its other projects, including its all-original Texas Unplugged musical series, label founder Chris Thomas says, “This has been a great period of growth for Palo Duro, and we’re excited to begin writing the next chapter of our history with the good folks at Fontana. Universal is unquestionably the worldwide leader in entertainment, and this partnership will provide our artists with new opportunities to share their music with new fans throughout North America.”

Summer 2005 was positive and promising for Palo Duro, with Two Tons of Steel making new fans during the showcase of its label debut, Vegas, at the Americana Music Conference in Nashville, the label’s new partnership with the Texas town of Luckenbach to produce a historical music series and the launch of the Shiner imprint. Other Palo Duro roster talent includes Morrison-Williams, Ed Burleson and outlaws Eleven Hundred Springs.

The video single of Morrison-Williams’ “I Still Talk to You” is due for release to radio and music TV stations in just a few weeks. The next Shiner Records release, in conjunction with KHYI Radio and Shiner Beer, is also nearing completion; famed Texas singer-songwriter Ray Wylie Hubbard is slated to produce the project.

Palo Duro’s future holds releases early next year of Texas Unplugged, Vol. 2 and debut recordings from its unique Luckenbach collaboration as well as all-new CD and DVD releases by Two Tons of Steel, Jon Christopher Davis and Dale Watson.

The label continues to live up to its original mission, one planted deep in Lone Star soil – to release the best of Texas-made music in a way that reflects the authenticity of its artists. Its releases are heard on radio stations from Austin to Boston to London and beyond, answering the demand for the Palo Duro sound by music lovers around the world.
