Art Exhibit Loses Barf Bag Collection
Curator offers $100 reward for missing bags.
(PRWEB) November 15, 2005 -- When Steve Silberberg sent 1600 air sickness bags off to be displayed in an art exhibit in New York, little did he realize that only 1500 would return home safely. The bags were to be part of an airline memorabilia exhibition called "Terminal 5", located in the vacant TWA terminal at JFK Airport.
After a raucous opening night party, the entire exhibit was closed down by the Port Authority of New York because of damage done to the facility by partygoers. The exhibit remained closed for several months while curators tried to negotiate the gallery's re-opening. Ultimately, the gallery was closed permanently earlier this year, having never re-opened. That's when the sickbags were sent back home, minus the missing 100.
It is unknown whether the Air Sickness Bags were stolen by an opportunistic Barf Bag Bandit or the bags were destroyed by an overzealous Port Authority of New York enforcement official or whether they were simply thrown out by someone who didn't recognize their artistsic merit.
