Boogey Lights® Aligned with Patent Holder for Popular Motorcycle LED Light Fixtures

Boogey, Inc. has entered into a distribution agreement with the owner of two (2) design patents for the common LED step light and courtesy light fixtures offered by many companies in the motorcycle industry. Dozens of motorcycle lighting manufacturers and dealers are selling products in violation of these patents.

Spring City, TN (PRWEB) December 5, 2005 - Boogey, Inc., owner of the Boogey Lights® brand of decorative motorcycle lighting products, has entered into a distribution agreement with Innovative Lighting of Roland, Iowa, owner of two (2) design patents for the common LED step light and courtesy light fixtures offered by many companies in the motorcycle industry.

“Several manufacturers have copied Innovative's LED product designs and are selling imitation products without regard for Innovative's intellectual property rights," said Scott Maentz, Boogey’s president." As an ethically responsible company we felt it was time to expose this widespread illegal practice and align ourselves with the legitimate patent holder. We also wanted to be absolutely certain that Boogey Lights® dealers would not be subject to potential lawsuits that may arise from selling products which violate these patents.”

Innovative Lighting was awarded its design patents for LED step and courtesy lights in 2001. Since that time numerous companies have modified these designs slightly with the intention of circumventing the patents on the basis of questionable legal design technicalities. Others have outright copied the original designs. Earlier this year Boogey learned of Innovative’s patents and immediately opened dialogue with the company to align itself with the legitimate owner of these popular LED product designs.
