Szelwachs presentation highlighted the importance of balancing intuitive and analytical data collection methods in developing strategic direction, formulating sound business decisions, and creating innovative solutions. She encouraged the audience of business students, executives, and university faculty to adopt methods of developing intuitive capability within the classroom and workplace through challenging simulations, lessons learned, reflective exercises, and cross-cultural experiences. Szelwach recommended that additional research focus in building intuitive decision-making due to the ambiguity and complexity of globalization, rising use of E-commerce, and the need for innovation as a final source of future competitive advantage.
Szelwach, a 1990 West Point graduate in the 10th class of women and a former elite Army paratrooper founded her company Creative Collaborations Consulting in 2000. Her company specializes in organizational development, change management, leadership coaching, and multicultural business development.
