Antone's Presents An Evening with Eleven Hundred Springs
Texas Country Band Tours behind New Single 'Hank Williams'
Austin, TX (PRWEB) June 8, 2005 -- Dallas-based Texas country band Eleven Hundred Springs plays a special early show in Austin as part on its ongoing tour in support of its new single "Hank Williams Wouldn't Make It Now In Nashville, Tennessee," a lament on the current state of country music in which the lyrics profess "that carbon copy music don't mean a damn to me."
The show is from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 17, at Antone's, 213 W. Fifth Street. $8 tickets will be available at the door. For information, call 512.320.8414 or visit www.antones.com.
"Hank Williams Wouldn't Make It Now in Nashville, Tennessee" -- written by EHS pedal steel player Aaron Wynne and released on CD-TEX Volume 32 in May with a regional country and Satellite radio focus -- is the latest single from the band's fourth album, Bandwagon (Palo Duro Records, October 2004).
Eleven Hundred Springs' no-frills pedal-steel charged roadhouse sound (a sound that is known as part of the current semi-rebellious Texas music movement to take country back from Nashville) packs Texas dancehalls and is receiving greater attention in traditional country music circles since the release of Bandwagon and its first single, "Why You Been Gone So Long." The single spent months on R & R magazine's Americana Chart and Texas Music Chart and climbed to #1 on XM Satellite Radio's X Country channel. And the band was also featured in an hour-long broadcast of "Wired In, the X Country Concert" series that aired three times in March.
The band, named after the beer slogan ("from the land of 1,100 springs"), was formed by lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Matt Hillyer and bassist Steven Berg in 1998. But they've been playing together since 1992, when they both wound up in a rockabilly band called Red Devils. Eventually, they formed Lone Star Trio, which became Eleven Hundred Springs when they were offered a regular gig at Adair's Saloon in Dallas. Rounding out the EHS roster are pedal steel and keyboard player Wynne; fiddler Jordan Hendrix; and drummer/percussionist Mark Reznicek, an alum of platinum-selling rock band The Toadies. Berg and Wynne also contribute backing vocals.
Eleven Hundred Springs summer tour includes:
