Blind Entrepreneur Creates Online Entertainment Venue for Blind Consumers

TalkingCommunities.com president, George Buys, blinded by a rare eye disease at 40, announces the final details for a joint venture with the blindness portal OcuSource.com. The new venture brings online conferences and entertainment to consumers, and will operate under the corporate name LetsGoExpo.

(PRWEB) June 8, 2005 -- TalkingCommunities.com president, George Buys, blinded by a rare eye disease at 40, announces the final details for a joint venture with the blindness portal OcuSource.com. The new venture brings online conferences and entertainment to consumers, and will operate under the corporate name LetsGoExpo.

Buys, blinded from an eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa, also known as RP, has been heavily involved with voice-conferencing over the internet for years. Ive had a vision of internet communities based on old-fashioned community values, complete with education, interactive entertainment, e-commerce, and topical discussions," states buys, founder of web-conferencing company, Talking Communities (www.talkingcommunities.com). LetsGoExpo is a dream come true for me," confirmed Buys. Weve created LetsGoExpo so that any company, or any industry for that matter, can provide accessible online events for educational purposes, business, or even for entertainment."

Buys met Dr. Lou Lipschultz, founder and CEO of a comprehensive web portal for the blind in March of 2005. Within a few weeks, we realized we had almost exactly the same vision. We each had what the other needed," states Lipschultz, an optometrist and former executive with a major manufacturer of devices for those with total blindness and partial loss of vision, also called low vision. The skills of the web-development team at OcuSource are a perfect compliment to the technology available from Talking Communities," says Lipschultz.

The LetsGoExpos first event, the OcuSource Expo begins Wednesday, June 8th at www.ocusource.com. LetsGoExpo integrates web-conferencing into a website designed to be easily navigated by blind users. This strategy allows event managers to bring the events to the end user, rather than the end user to the event. Users equipped with a computer, internet access and a microphone with speakers can visit the Expo, attend presentation by industry experts, meet online with exhibitors to discuss products and services, as well as attend entertainment activities. The Expo boasts an impressive lineup for its first event with Pat Boone, major country music stars such as Merle Haggard and Ray Price, streamed old-time radio, as well as narrated television events supplied by Narrative Television Network.
