Cycle" into Summer with Community Schools
Registration for summer youth camps and evening family classes has begun.
Anchorage, AK (PRWEB) June 15, 2005 -- The summer term is upon us and online registration for Community Schools has begun. This marks an exciting time for Community Schools as this is the first time its hosted a full summer program in 15 years.
Online registration follows the release of the Summer Community Cache -- which included youth camps and evening courses – which was inserted in the Sunday, June 5th edition of the Anchorage Daily News. Camps include Magic with Don Russell, Cowkidz, Mask-Making, Spanish, Creative Writing, Soccer, and Track and Field, to name a few.
Summer classes are scheduled to begin the week of June 20th at these school district locations – Kincaid, Trailside, Baxter (evening programming only), Inlet View, Mirror Lake (Eagle River-Chugiak), and Four Valleys (Girdwood). About Community Schools:
In July 2004, the Anchorage Community Education Association (ACEA), a private non-profit, took the reigns from the Anchorage School District in an effort to ensure long-term program sustainability for Community Schools.
For the past 30 years the Community Schools program has provided educational programming for all ages in the areas of academic enhancement, recreation, health and wellness, business and finance, home and garden, art and dance, and the use of technology applications. Last year alone, more than 45,000 local residents participated in over 800 Community School courses.
