(PRWEB) June 28, 2005 -- Gordon is perhaps best known for his work on pedal steel and mandolin. On this recording Gordon leaves the pedal steel at home and goes back to his early bluegrass roots. This CD features some very inspired playing by his friends including: Arlo Guthrie, Mike Auldridge, Bill Keith and Mark Schatz, and shows Gordon to be a truly masterful songwriter.
Although this is Gordon's first solo album, he is no stranger to the studio or the stage. Gordon has been a very in-demand sideman/studio musician for artists including: Paul Simon, Shawn Colvin, Travis Tritt, Dottie West, Bill Keith, Peter Rowan, John Herald and many others. He has been a member of Arlo Guthrie's band for the last 3+ years and is currently on the 40th Anniversary Celebration of the Alices Restaurant Massacree" national tour. Please go to www.Arlo.net for the tour schedule.
Gordon has also played on more than 400 jingles for clients including Pepsi, National Football League (with Hank Williams Jr., Are You Ready for Some Football?), McDonalds, Chevrolet and Budweiser. As a composer his music has been used by all the major TV networks as well as Disney, HBO, CMT. Gordon is a veteran Broadway performer, having been in the original orchestras of five Broadway musicals.
They say a man is known by the company he keeps. One of the most exciting things about the music business is when you get to work with people that helped to shape your playing. Here are some of Gordon's thoughts on the matter:
"When I was a kid, I used to pore over the credits on the jackets of the old 33 r.p.m. records, soaking up the names of all the studio musicians that were mesmerizing me with their magical stuff. I've been incredibly lucky to work with many of them since then." (GordonTitcomb.com)
