Mochary Foundation Debuts Students Films About Teen Life in Miami on Its Website

Six short student films offer a glimpse into the lives of ordinary teens from Miami, as told in their own creative way.

Miami, FL (PRWEB) July 1, 2005 -- the Mochary Foundation released six short films on their web site from students who successfully completed the Foundations digital media course at North Miami Beach High School. The films focus on teen life in Miami and can be viewed for free online at www.mochary.org/flixs.htm.

All films offer a glimpse into the lives of six ordinary teens from Miami, as told in their own creative way. The films were directed, shot and edited by the students and cover topics important to todays teenagers growing up in a city culturally diverse as Miami. The students also wrote their own scripts and acted in several of the films. Others used friends and family as actors and included soundtracks. All films were shot on location in Miami.

Topics included inter-racial dating, in a film by the same name; difficulties in teens obtaining a job, in the film No Job, No Justice;" and a story about teenage love in "Original Woman." Other films explored lost teen-love in "Sad Sappy Sucka" and two others explored the world from a teens perspective in "A Documentary Film and Blood Money."

The objective of the digital media course was to teach economically disadvantaged youth the power of their creativity expressed through film and art, as well for them to learn filmmaking skills in order to gain entry into the industry," said Michael Barnes, film program director. At the end of the program all of our students did a phenomenal job and they have created original works of art on film that express their feelings and attitudes about life at this particular moment in time. That is the essence of film."

The Mochary Foundation is headed by Matt Mochary who believes that that access to good education unlocks amazing potential in individuals, communities and countries. The Mochary Foundation seeks to facilitate excellent and practical education in particular localities for a few people, in the hope that its efforts, if viewed as effective, will be replicated by larger foundations and eventually national governments in much larger areas and for far greater populations," said Mr. Mochary.
