Another Atomic Anniversary: Cold War Pop Culture Preservationists CONELRAD Turn 6

CONELRAD: The Golden Age of Homeland Security and All Things Atomic Celebrates Its 6th Anniversary

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 16, 2005 -- CONELRAD (www.conelrad.com), an organization recognized by national media and academia for its incisive and witty Cold War popular culture analysis and its public archival efforts turns six today.

In the last year CONELRAD has:

  • Published the definitive production history of the classic Cold War educational film, DUCK AND COVER (1951) and spearheaded the successful public campaign to have this motion picture inducted into the Library of Congresss prestigious National Film Registry.

  • Co-produced with Bear Family Records the Cold War music box ATOMIC PLATTERS: Cold War Music from the Golden Age of Homeland Security. This five CD / 1 DVD box set will be released on August 6th. This set contains over 100 songs from the '40s, '50s and '60s plus over two dozen frighteningly naïve Public Service Announcements. Additionally, the box set boasts a 292 page hardbound book and a DVD with nine Cold War short subject motion pictures (including DUCK AND COVER).

  • CONELRAD co-founders Bill Geerhart and Ken Sitz presented the multimedia lecture A BRIEF HISTORY OF PANIC at OTIS College of Art and Design in Los Angeles.

CONELRADs upcoming projects include:
  • The definitive history of the public fallout shelter sign.

  • The CONELRAD CAFE, a regular podcast program featuring vintage atomic music, Public Service Announcements and paranoid spoken word LPs from the "Golden Age of Homeland Security."

  • Expanded music and film sections in ATOMICPLATTERS.com and CONELRAD.com.

CONELRAD welcomes press inquiries on its past, present or future.
