The annual international convention of the Folk Alliance has changed its dates in Austin, Texas, to February 10 - 14th, 2006. With around 2,000 attendees, the conference offers a complete view of the business world of traditional and contemporary folk music and dance.
Memphis, TN (PRWEB) July 22, 2005 -- The annual international convention of the North American Folk Music and Dance Alliance (Folk Alliance) has changed its dates in Austin, Texas, to February 10 - 14th, 2006. With around 2,000 attendees, the conference offers a complete view of the business world of traditional and contemporary folk music and dance through showcases, educational seminars and the world's only "all folk" exhibit hall. The event will be held entirely at the Austin Hilton.
The Folk Alliance is the largest networking organization on the continent devoted to the folk community. In addition to producing the conference event, Folk Alliance provides year-round services including a music business directory, newsletters, classes, workshops, and regional events, and arts advocacy for the field on a regional and international basis.
Founded in 1989, Folk Alliance was created to increase awareness of the cultural importance of folk music and dance. They believe that when living cultural expressions and traditions are shared it heightens understanding of all and enriches the quality of life.
