Altamont Raceway Seeks New Owners

General Manager Dennis Ortolan has announced that Altamont Raceway & Arena will be upgraded in several areas. The new management is looking at many ways to improve the infrastructure and operations at the facility. Included in these improvements is a new landmark sign on the adjacent I580/205 highway interchange. The sign will feature the new venue name and a huge full color video board fifteen feet tall by over thirty feet wide, and fifty feet high. Over 300,000 travelers a day commute over the Altamont Pass on I580 between the San Francisco Bay Area and the Central Valley. This very large sign provides notice of weekly events, advertisers and public service announcements.

Early into the coming race season, Motorsports fans all over the world will be invited to See it Live in 2005" at Altamont Raceway & Arena. Other technological improvements include upgraded lighting for events conducted and televised at night. Repair and expansion of the racing surface to contain completion of a ¾ mile road course within the current dual oval configuration is included. The Fastest ½ Mile in the West" along with the quick ¼ mile oval, will remain a major challenge to seasoned race drivers and emerging talent for many years to come.

The racing schedule for 2005, along with a major announcement regarding affiliation with a nationally recognized Motorsports sanctioning organization, will be released within days. An expected list of over thirty events comprising the weekly STARS" Short Track Auto Racing Series with other events that will include the SRL Wild West Shootout" Late Model Tour, also the Mark Hutto Memorial" Late Model Northern Nationals, Northern Californias biggest outdoor Monster Truck event and the infamous Pumpkin Smash 400 Enduro & Halloween Destruction Derby".
