Americana /Alt.-Country Band Kicks Off "Small Town Newspaper Tour"

Americana / Alt-Country band Swinging Steaks are celebrating the release of their new CD, "Sunday Best" by kicking off what they're calling the "Small Town Newspaper Tour."

(PRWEB) September 30, 2005 -- Bass player Paul Kochanski, states, "This is what Americana music is all about, the small towns and cities across the United States... These places are the heart and soul of Americana. We thought it would be great to give the newspapers of these towns a chance to review the CD and talk to members of the band directly, not having to rely on news service feeds or waiting until the band comes to a town near them."

A five-man band out of Massachusetts, Swinging Steaks (www.swingingsteaks.com) are among the originators of the current roots rock/ alt.country movement. Playing together for 15 years, the band has released 5 CD's (on Capricorn Records and Thrust Records) prior to "Sunday Best". The Steaks' second album, "South Side of the Sky" introduced the band to a national audience with two top ten AAA radio singles and appearances on NBC-TV's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and NPR's "Mountain Stage". Besides headlining their own shows, the band has toured with / appeared with John Fogerty, Los Lobos, Warren Zevon, Poco, Jimmy Dale Gilmore, Paul Westerberg, The Band, Jason and the Scorchers, Hank Williams, Jr., and many, many others.

Swinging Steaks "Sunday Best" is the first CD for new label, First National Records. Distributed nationally by Redeye (www.redeyeusa.com), First National Records (www.firstnationalrecords.com)was started by indie music veteran Dave Witthaus. First National's releases are available at all traditional and on-line music retailers, and through all major download services.
