Creator of "Whimsical Doodle’s Whimsical Worlds" Included in International POP GESICHT Project

Illustrator-artist Jan C.J. Jones, creator of "Whimsical Doodle’s Whimsical Worlds" has been included in the international POP GESICHT Project. Established in 2004, inclusion into the POP GESICHT (roughly translated, The Face of Pop) project is by invitation only, and it intends to survey the work of artists examining the effects of popular culture, and artists utilizing Pop techniques in both the fine and graphic arts. The collection intends to demonstrate that Pop is an artistic genre that is constantly evolving as the effects of popular culture continue to influence the face of art as a whole.

(PRWEB) March 22, 2006 -- Described as "Peter Max colliding with Kandinsky," artwork created by Colorado illustrator-artist Jan C.J. Jones titled, "Whimsical Doodles' Whimsical Worlds" is currently on display throughout March at the Briargate Library located at 9475 Briar Village Point, Colorado Springs, CO 80920. Call 719.260 6882 for more information.

The second phase of the POP GESICHT project includes mounting exhibitions from the resulting collection, and the utilization of multi-disciplined artistic teams to examine the effects of popular culture, brands and celebrity at site-specific venues. Whimsical Doodle’s creator, Jan C.J.Jones, joins an international array of Pop Artists including Corey Armpriester, Neal Aspinall, Anthony Ausgang, Jan Bollaert, Alfred Degens, Jordan Eagles, Elisabeth Ernst, James Faulkner, Carson Grier, Thomas Hart, Jason K. Jenkins, Joseph Leibovic, Malkiese Paythress, Susan Radau, Louis Schlumberger, Hauke Steiner, John W. Tomac, Tyrome Tripoli, Philip Verbruggen, Bart Verheyen, and Mike Wrathell. POP GESICHT is a non-profit endeavor and can be seen online at http://www.pop-gesicht.com/.

Whimsical Doodle titles denote the quizzical aire of whimsy created, for example, "The Rastafarian Flute-Harpist Arrived Late," and yes, he's there, but what "he" is, is not exactly certain. The artwork has been described as "quirky with a bit of whimsy, or... quimsy."

W. Doodle's "A Beautiful Mind is Better than a Pretty Face" offers a lesson on the vainness of a narcissist's vanity. When asked her vision for W. Doodles, Jones said she would like to see W. Doodles transformed into entire designer collections for fashion, the home and office. "I'd like to wrap this fun quirkiness around people to inspire their imaginations, and bring levity to their stress filled lives. It's difficult to be creative under stress," and as a divorced mother of two, Jones must know about stress.

W. Doodle's Whimsical Worlds transport the viewer into mostly lighthearted abstract scenes filled with geometry, color, wonderfully composed spaces occupied (in some cases) by unfamiliar, otherworldly creatures. Each drawing represents a small segment of a much greater story to be completed or continued by the viewer. Intending to inspire the imagination, observers are prompted to complete the story.

Youngsters and oldsters alike chuckle as they ponder the story behind each Whimsical Doodle. The Whimsical Doodle's Whimsical Worlds collection was juried and selected by the Pikes Peak Library District's art selection committee to be displayed at the Monument and the new Briargate Branch Libraries. Whimsical Doodle's Whimsical Worlds was featured in the 2005 Boulder Fringe Art Festival (Boulder, CO) as well as the 2005 Renegade Artists Festival in Estes Park, CO. and is presented, represented and licensed by Forest Rose Productions, LLC, Monument, CO.
