National Speed Sport News Readers: Indy 500 is America’s Most Prestigious Race
Readers of National Speed Sport News, America’s weekly motorsports authority for over 70 years, have voted the Indianapolis 500 America’s premier auto racing event.
Harrisburg, N.C. (PRWEB) May 30, 2006 -- The Indianapolis 500 is America’s premier auto racing event, according to National Speed Sport News readers in a current online poll at http://www.NationalSpeedSportNews.com. Over half of the readers of the motorsports newsweekly are picking the IRL’s Indy 500 over several other motorsports events.
The poll asks the question, “Which of these is the premier United States auto-racing event?” Currently NASCAR’s Daytona 500 is in a distant second place, followed closely with sprint car racing’s famous Knoxville Nationals.
NHRA’s US Nationals, also held in Indianapolis, is currently in fourth place with less than 10% of votes cast. The US Nationals will mark its 52nd year this Labor Day weekend.
Last place in balloting is the Long Beach Grand Prix.
