MusoFinder.com Launches New Global Tagging Search Engine for Musicians

MusoFinder.com, the search engine for musicians, has launched a new way for musicians to find each other on the Internet wherever they are located in the world. And they did it without any complex technology and with virtually no budget!

This new global tagging search engine provides a way for musicians to find each other on the Internet wherever they are located in the world. Similar to Flickr.com and YouTube.com, MusoFinder.com is building a community around the idea of “Folksonomy” (for a definition, link to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folksonomy). The idea of the site is that users are the ones to categorise themselves, not Web developers.

Visitors to MusoFinder.com are able to sign up for free and create free profiles. They are then asked to assign “tags” to their profile so that other users can find them. Tags are basically just keywords, but because they are created by the user they allow for highly customised listings. MusoFinder.com is different in comparison to most other sites that use tagging because it has developed a tagging system that can be used for location-based searches.

MusoFinder was originally started in 2003 by young musician Stu Green. Burne joined Green soon after the initial launch and the two of them have built the site up from nothing and now have more than 25,000 members in the UK. “We put a lot of effort into listening to what our users want,” Burne said. The community is so close that we literally listen to every bit of feedback.”
