Having fine-tuned his vision in the time since his Rodney Crowell-produced debut, Somethin’ in the Air, wowed critics, topped radio airplay charts and connected him with ardent concertgoers nationwide, Mike Younger is now preparing to release his highly-anticipated sophomore CD, Every Stone You Throw, arriving from Bare Bone Productions on March 7, 2006.

For Mike Younger, Every Stone You Throw is both a vital new beginning and a bidding adieu to bygone experiences. “With this project, the most important thing was to make sure it was done completely on my terms and would not be compromised in any way. Every Stone You Throw comes from lessons learned and prices paid in the time since the first record – be they from shattered relationships, dashed promises and expectations, or those regrets and disillusionments that force you to question everything – even your very perceptions of yourself. For me, making this album was about learning to survive and accept the hurts that just naturally punctuate life, but finally completing it was about taking all I’d learned and letting it lead me to a better place.”

From the politically-savvy “Everyday War” (a scathing indictment Mike hopes “people all over the world will hear”) through the touching “Soulsearchin” (“a love song about finding your way back into a loved one’s heart” – punctuated with hints of Southern gospel) to the tenderly nostalgic acoustic closer, “Something to Believe” (“a very cathartic finale, saying goodbye to a major part of my life”), Every Stone You Throw is a tender, moving, even harrowing sonic journey – deeply rooted in its creator’s experiences.

Realizing the limitations inherent in performing solo (as he had on his debut), Mike has reunited with old friend and collaborator Bob Packwood (noted for playing keyboards with Canadian alt-country pioneers, Blue Rodeo), Skip Ward (bass) and Louis Appel (drums) to form a full band, fleshing out Mike’s songs and taking them to the next level. After playing live together for nearly two years, Mike and his new band ventured to Nashville and – under the guidance of famed producer/engineer Rob Clark (“Neil Young’s right hand man”) – laid down the basic tracks for Every Stone You Throw in just three days.
