Connections by Author Craig Baird Links All People Together in a World That Thrives on Individual Success and Greed
"Connections by new author Craig Baird reveals the state of humankind, the connections we share to each other, and the constraints we put on ourselves as individuals through fascinating, multi-dimensional characters."
New York, NY (PRWEB / PRWEB) October 27, 2006 -- Author Craig Baird started writing as a child, but it wasn't until he became an adult that he realized his connection to literature and began to appreciate literature's connection to the human race. From this discovery, Connections was borne, a novel linking all of our lives together and giving us a realistic look of what life and happiness really means. If the classic novels we cherish now mark the eras in which they were written with accurate representations of those days and timeless words, then Connections is sure to fit right into the classics of the future.
"Connections is about the connections between all of us, and how the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence," Baird explains. "The idea came about while I was on business. While in the air I saw a red car and thought about how that person was probably going home, and I was flying away from mine. I began thinking of the story, at that point, with each chapter being about an individual person, who is connected to the person of the previous chapter though being seen, either on TV, in person, or in a picture.
We often believe that the person who has the big house, nice car and large bank account is the one who is happiest, but my book shows this is far from the truth, and in fact those who have nothing are the happy ones. As Janis Joplin said, 'Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose.'"
Revealing the connections between us all is just the beginning. In today's fast world of high tech gadgets and the 'me first' mentality, Baird's book sheds a realistic light on what true happiness and wealth really is. "The book also has the theme of setting oneself free of the constraints we put on ourselves and society through our consumerism and need for power and possessions. In most of the chapters, each person realizes a truth about their existence by the end," he adds.
In a world where the focus is always on the outside and there's never much time for inward searching, this inspirational novel is a much needed breath of fresh air. And, as much as it is a breakout novel for Baird, he hopes readers will find the same freedom just by reading it. "I hope that people read it and begin to think about their own lives. I hope they think about what makes them happy and decide to do it. It has for me."
