All-Star Pitcher Dave Dravecky Loses Arm, Career, Regains Manhood in Wilds of Alaska; Complete Story in Rocky McElveen's Amazing book, "Wild Men, Wild Alaska"

One of Dave Dravecky's good friends is long time Alaskan big game guide Rocky McElveen. In Rocky's just released wonderful book, "Wild Men, Wild Alaska", he tells Dave's story along with others that have come to his remote lodge in the Alaskan wild and experienced adventures that have impacted their lives in many positive ways. Dave's story is especially inspiring.

(PRWEB) November 6, 2006 -- The Alaskan Wilderness helps ex-professional all-star baseball player Dave Dravecky regain his manhood after losing his arm and career. This story is recounted in intriguing detail in a great new adventure book, "Wild Men, Wild Alaska" by Rocky McElveen.

Dave Dravecky lost his pitching arm while throwing for the Giants in a televised game that was being viewed by millions. Cancer had weakened the arm and later it had to be surgically removed. Dave even lost part of his shoulder. Dave had been a men among men and an outstanding pitcher who had won in the World Series. Suddenly his world collapsed and his claim to fame was gone.

Dave did not give up. With the urging of friends he sought out Rocky and was flown to Rocky's remote lodge in rugged Alaska to test himself against the wilderness. The story of Dave battling salmon with one arm and trying gamely to stalk caribou and a big Alaskan bear is very uplifting and courageous. Other stories in the book deal with similarly famous people that come to Alaska to find themselves, often facing life and death situations. It is a must read and many reviewers state that they cannot put the book down.
