Affordafloors.com Announces Year-End Clearance of Hardwood Flooring to Assist Home Owners for Selling in a Slow Market

As the real estate market continues to remain soft, upgrading a home's floor can provide appeal for those seeking to sell. Affordafloors.com announces its year-end clearance and explains how researching the variety of grades of hardwood flooring before purchasing can save money and how the installation can add value to a home or condo.

(PRWEB) December 7, 2006 -- Affordafloors.com announces its year-end clearance sale and explains what to look for in the variety of affordable flooring options which are important when selling a condo or home. The National Association of Realtors indicates that prices of homes and condominiums are down nationally. Realtors are informing sellers to provide incentives and value to help sell the home including upgrading the flooring.

In oak hardwood flooring, a cabin grade provides graining and color variations that give it character, and it is priced well below what it would be for a clear or select grade hardwood. "If your decor doesn't require a very formal look, you should definitely consider a cabin grade hardwood. Contrary to what some salespeople might try to convince shoppers in order to sell a higher priced hardwood floor, the integrity of the wood is as good as the more expensive ones, and the finish and wear layer is exactly the same. There is nothing really wrong or inferior about 'lower grades' of hardwood, it just has more of the things that give it real character: knots, mineral streaks and more color variation," said Jeff Blackburn, Technical Advisor for AffordaFloors.com.

The highest grade (depending on the species of wood) is generally marked as 'clear' grade which has the most uniform appearance in the grain and color. At the other end of the grading is 'cabin' grade, which has a lot of variation in coloring, knots and mineral streaking. "Sometimes a more formal decor would call for a 'clear' or 'select' grade of hardwood flooring" said Blackburn. "However, hardwood is a product of nature and is thus subject to the knots and mineral streaks that make up its unique characteristics. Looking at it in realistic terms, many people enjoy those things that give wood its unique character."

Cabin grade hardwood floors provide the best of both worlds - a hardwood floor at a price that won't break the bank. For home owners seeking to sell in the lowest marketplace in eight years, hardwood floors provide an affordable way to add value to the home.
