Daytona 500 Starting Spot Eludes Derrike Cope My Guardian 911 Sundance Vacations Dodge bumped by Bill Elliott

Previous Daytona 500 winner Derrike Cope fails to make the field for this week's running of the Daytona 500. The Sundance Vacations Dodge was bumped from a starting position by Bill Elliott.

Daytona, FL (PRWEB) February 17, 2006 -- Previous Daytona 500 winner, Derrike Cope, failed to make the field for this week's running of the Daytona 500. The Sundance Vacations Dodge was bumped from a starting position by Bill Elliott during the qualifying race held today. The Gatorade Duels are part of the complicated qualifying events for the season opening race. Derrike Cope, Kevin LePage and Mike Skinner were all trying to race their way into the Daytona 500 on the final lap of Gatorade Duel race 1.

Derrike Cope and Mike Skinner traded paint as they raced to the finish line. But all the rubbing and bumping was for naught when Bill Elliott, who already had a guaranteed spot for the race, got by.
”We didn’t get it done…it’s unfortunate for My Guardian 911, Royal Administration and Sundance [Vacations]. The car just wouldn’t run without somebody behind it. We did all we could. We were in the transfer spot most of the time, but now we have to try again in California,” explains the previous Daytona 500 winner, Derrike Cope. The My Guardian 911 Sundance Vacations Dodge finished 19th in the Gatorade Duel and will not make the Daytona 500 this Sunday.
