Motorcyclists Find Peace of Mind in Their Hip Pocket: MASA Eliminates Financial Burden of Emergency Air Transport

Motorcyclists are discovering newfound peace of mind, thanks to MASA -- Medical Air Services Association. That’s because more and more riders are becoming members of the world’s preeminent provider of prepaid medical air transport services.

Southlake, TX (PRWEB) April 4, 2006 -- Motorcyclists are discovering newfound peace of mind, thanks to MASA -- Medical Air Services Association. That’s because more and more riders are becoming members of the world’s preeminent provider of prepaid medical air transport services.

“RVers and long-haul truckers have known about MASA’s affordable, life-saving emergency assistance services for years,” said Keith Knapp, MASA motorcycle division director. “Now motorcyclists are discovering that MASA’s low-cost protection is a perfect fit for their lifestyle, too.”

Knapp, who has been a rider for over 40 years, understands the joys and the risks associated with motorcycling. “Motorcyclists prepare to ride by taking training and purchasing riding gear that is both comfortable and protective. A MASA membership goes one step further because it can save tens of thousands of dollars if a rider goes down or becomes ill and requires hospitalization. In addition, MASA will arrange for members to be transported to the nearest medical facility equipped to handle their condition.”

Consider that a life flight on an air ambulance can cost $50,000 or more. Health insurance or Medicare coverage pays little, if any, of this expense. MASA will pay the cost of an air ambulance flight to a member’s home hospital to recuperate in familiar surroundings, or a commercial flight to return a member home if they have already been discharged. Either way, MASA gets their members home.

An annual individual MASA membership is $240 and family memberships are just $360. After paying a one-time initiation fee of $60, members receive all 12 MASA benefits in the company’s coverage area--U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Bermuda, Turks and Caicos. Toll-free telephone numbers are imprinted on the back of a wallet-sized membership card for easy reference.

With around-the-clock access to MASA dispatch, members can request a host of additional services, all of which are included in the annual membership fee. For example, if air ambulance transportation is required, MASA will pay for any associated ground ambulance expenses, as well for a relative or friend to accompany the member. If the member’s motorcycle (or other vehicle) is stranded, MASA will pay for its return.

“What makes this a great deal is that you don’t have to be traveling by motorcycle to receive any of the benefits of MASA membership,” said Knapp. “If a member is hospitalized at home and needs specialized medical treatment that is not locally available, MASA will transport them by air ambulance to the hospital that can best attend to their needs.”

With over thirty years of experience and 750,000 active memberships, MASA is hardly a new kid on the block. In fact, it was the first company to offer prepaid emergency medical air transport services and it has received the endorsement of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the International College of Surgeons and many others.

“The greatest appeal to a motorcyclist is tremendous peace of mind,” said Knapp. “A MASA membership allows a motorcyclist to enjoy every ride confident that both the rider and the motorcycle will arrive back home. At the cost of a good riding jacket or a helmet, it’s nice to know that help is as near as your hip pocket.”
