My Mother's Car Mother of the Year Contest

My Mother's Car Mother of the Year Contest is a promotion sponsored by the Darlington Fan Club to raise money for local charities. Mother’s Day provides an excellent opportunity to develop themed events to focus upon the race heritage of Darlington and to initiate a new tradition for Mother’s Day.

Darlington, SC (PRWEB) April 28, 2006 -- The Fanz to Support the Darlington Tradition is presenting a special program for the Darlington Mother’s Day race. The primary purpose of this program is to help to develop a new racing heritage in the Darlington area. Darlington has already lost one race and leadership within the community is needed to chart the course of new racing endeavors to preserve the other race. Mother’s Day provides an excellent opportunity to develop themed events to focus upon the race heritage of Darlington and to initiate a new tradition for Mother’s Day.

The focus of our programs will be upon wives and mothers and their importance in understanding the success of NASCAR. This is a story that has not been told and has been lost in the success of the races and the drivers. Wives and mothers are the individuals who have given the sport stability and longevity. They are the glue that has held many race teams and families together. The family is the basic unit within NASCAR that has given it strength and durability. Another element that has not been well explored is women drivers in the sport. Women drivers will be a sub theme of certain events.

The Club is sponsoring a Mother of the Year contest. The purpose of this contest is to develop a forum to understand the untold stories about racing families who are “NASCAR crazy”. For information about the contest, send an e-mail. Fanz to Support the Darlington Tradition will be sponsoring a hospitality center at the race to welcome fans to the Darlington area and provide southern hospitality. Special souvenirs for Mother’s Day may be purchased at the hospitality center. Proceeds will be donated to local charities. There will be educational programs to tell the story of Darlington and present a new image based upon a Mother’s Day theme.

These programs outlined are solely the effort of the Fan Club and are not associated with the Darlington Raceway or NASCAR. The purpose of the events is to provide leadership to preserve the heritage of the Darlington race and to develop a new perspective for future efforts.
