A New Performance Tuning Service For EMC Documentum Systems

AGAMBS, one of the world’s leading EMC Documentum consultancies, has launched a new performance tuning service. It will enable content management systems to run more efficiently, handle more users and deal with higher volumes of information.

High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire (PRWEB) May 27, 2006 -- AGAMBS, one of the world’s leading EMC Documentum consultancies, has launched a new performance tuning service. It will enable content management systems to run more efficiently, handle more users and deal with higher volumes of information.

This service will enable organisations to restore the performance and throughput of their Documentum systems and mitigate against changes in usage and the increasing volume of data that is being stored. It will deliver rapid and consistent response times and eliminate the time outs that plague users of busy document management systems when carrying out document searches and retrievals.

AGAMBS enabled us to achieve a ten fold increase in the number of transactions we were able to process every minute. This increased throughput enabled us to achieve faster delivery of news to journalists and downstream systems.
AGAMBS’ new performance tuning service will be of particular interest to organisations using Documentum systems that appear to be running at full capacity and are considering expanding their existing hardware. By freeing up latent capacity, it can enable organisations to postpone investing in new equipment and maximise the ROI from their existing system.

According to Andrew McCabe, Managing Director of AGAMBS: “Whether there are 100 or 1,000 users, access to documents should take the same amount of time if the system is correctly sized and tuned. Our experience shows that we can reduce the time it takes to search and retrieve documents to just 10-15% of what it was taking prior to tuning up the system. Giving faster access to documents will deliver significant productivity improvements across the organisation.”

This view is supported by Reuters who commented: “AGAMBS enabled us to achieve a ten fold increase in the number of transactions we were able to process every minute. This increased throughput enabled us to achieve faster delivery of news to journalists and downstream systems.”

To identify performance bottlenecks, AGAMBS analyses the database, Documentum settings, network performance, application servers, UNIX and Windows configuration. A detailed report is then prepared on the findings and recommendations for performance tuning are supplied. A normal investigation and recommendation phase usually takes up to five days depending on the nature of the system and the problems associated with it. The report also highlights any areas requiring additional follow-up work such as potential code changes and suboptimal queries.

AGAMBS also provides range of specialised services that will enable organisations to maximise their investment in Documentum systems. It is one of the few European consultancies with the expertise to provide Documentum Load Test Scripting services. Using specifically designed tools, script-testing scenarios can be run that accurately mimic the projected usage patterns and volumes of your specific applications. This ensures that applications run efficiently without introducing locking or blocking at the database level.
