Spanishpromotions Launches its Contents for Mobile Phones Through its iMode Channel

Spanishpromotions will offer almost 400 articles on Spanish destinations, 57,000 properties, offers on rural tourism and services offered by tourist companies, as well as restaurants, shows and 3G videos. All of this will make up the grid of some of the contents already accessible from the mobile phones of users’ pockets.

(PRWEB) May 27, 2006 -- Francisco Javier Fernández, the founder and person responsible for the project explains how the initial idea has taken shape. In its first year it served over 3 million pages on Spain and its culture, business and destinations, along with a wide offer focusing on the national and international market by offering quality contents for a demanding and qualified audience as regards tourism and related services on the Internet, index-linking its own contents.

In your first year you have experienced a growth of 600% in visits as a portal on the Internet and now you want to be present in mobile telephones. Why?

This growth only reflects the need for a real market on the Internet. From the start, our project has, above all, aimed at being a multimedia reference point on everything concerning Spain, but based on what users most search for and demand; news, properties and trips.

The market for mobile phone contents is an excellent means of distribution for personalising content. However, first of all, the Internet enables us to filter and organise this information and the multimedia platform adapts it to mobile devices by means of iMode, a more user-friendly system for mobile information than WAP and it is already being used.

In short, the aim is the same, it is useful for users, who can consult whatever they need to know on Spain, videos, hotels, tourism offers, walking tours, news on destinations, properties and much more just by clicking from anywhere and at any time.

How do you administer an e-commerce platform focusing on tourism and services?

It’s just like any other marketplace and it’s daily work. We have followed the example of those who know how to do things well, following their models and processes. The work we have left to do doesn’t bear thinking about. However, it’s all about administering an on-line market with companies offering services and users searching for them. We just set up the platform to make it accessible and simple to manage for companies and user friendly for users.

On the other hand, it’s a question of being alert and observing what leading companies of the on-line market do. We have spent a lot of time following our users’ tendencies, 80% of them are foreign and they are the ones who know the information they are searching for and if it is easily accessible, it’s even more useful.

Our work system with web services, like any other marketplace, is based on the incorporation of contents. On the other hand, we go on implementing and incorporating easy and practical solutions related to e-business issues and this is the main task of any development team.

Collaboration and synergy are essential and as regards this, there are many international companies interested in collaborating and reaching agreements that enable us to gradually have this audience. This is very encouraging for us.

What does being on the telephone of any potential buyer mean to your clients and the portal’s member companies?

First of all, we are trying to show companies that the use of new technologies, the optimisation of costs and the effectiveness as regards advertising are all interconnected. On the other hand, the future advertising model is closely linked to user interaction. There are more and more advertisers who understand that launching a message to users lying on the sofa with their minds blank watching the box is not the best option, and it’s not cheap either. Many of them would prefer users to show a real interest in their message and that’s why they must click so that more information can be offered only to those searching for it. Besides, if this is cheap, all the better. We would be shocked if we knew the number of people who could be really interested in interacting and letting themselves be seduced by our message, there are loads of them.

What can we find on iMode.spanishpromotions.com?

At first, the same things you can find on the portal, which is already accessible from any telephone, that is, an extensive archive on business, trips, destination, technology and adventure and leisure activities. There are also 3G videos on Spain and its companies.

Nevertheless, we still have a lot of work to do, but this first stage, at the moment, has helped us offer contents for mobiles, with information in Spanish and English. A way to provide services not only to 62 million tourists that come to Spain every year, but to any user interested in knowing more about Spain and its companies in the tourist and services sector.

Our slogan is simple:
“Discover Spain, anytime, anywhere”
