Charleston, SC (PRWEB) May 27, 2006 -– This Memorial Day, Americans will come together to honor and give thanks to the many men and women who have died in service to our country. VetFriends.com – the premier Web site for reuniting and supporting U.S. veterans, active military, family and friends – offers a free online Casualty Memorial for all to view and submit information to, in remembrance of our fallen U.S. military personnel.

The Casualty Memorial at www.VetFriends.com/memorial, sourced by the federal National Archives, allows visitors to search by first and last name, state, military branch and war to view memorial pages spanning back to the Korean War. Each listing contains the soldier’s date of birth, hometown, military branch of service, along with the date and location of his or her death. Family and friends can submit bio information, personal notes, along with a collection of photos to keep the memory of their heroes alive.

Additionally, an online Memorial Day forum has been developed on the Web site, reaching out to both veterans and the public. Personal thoughts, comments and insights in regard to our military personnel and Memorial Day can be read and submitted online in a collection at www.VetFriends.com/memorialdayforum. VetFriends.com encourages people to share how they will spend this year’s Memorial Day as well. Submissions will be posted live online all this week and throughout the summer.

Top priority: reuniting veterans, active military, family and friends nationwide. Other features available: search the database of over 663,000 members to make contact with old friends; information on how to obtain military records and medals; message boards; upload past and present photos; military jokes; search and post reunions; along with a variety of other features and services.

VetFriends.com was founded in the year 2000 by Marine Corps veteran of Desert Storm, Dale F. Sutcliffe. Since then, thousands of people have been reconnected through VetFriends.com, spanning from World War Two through to Operation Desert Storm and the present.
