Indian Auto Rickshaw Challenge Organizers to Head Out on a Mapping Mission in Mid-June

The organizers of the Indian Auto Rickshaw Challenge (IARC) will be on a mapping mission in Tamil Nadu, India from June 18th through the end of the month traveling the proposed route of the 1,000-kilometer course to specify the challenge itinerary, waypoints, coordinates, and timing cutoffs.

Chennai, India (PRWEB) June 6, 2006 -- The organizers of the Indian Auto Rickshaw Challenge (IARC) will be on a mapping mission in Tamil Nadu, India from June 18th through the end of the month traveling the proposed route of the 1,000-kilometer course to specify the challenge itinerary, waypoints, coordinates, and timing cutoffs. They will be testing the terrain and exacting the maps of the event. The organizers (including the event’s founder) will also be creating and confirming challenging new competitions, day and nighttime activities for event participants, hotel recommendations, and vehicle preparations.

The mapping mission will be headed by the lead organizers of the Indian Auto Rickshaw Challenge, who also greatly contributed to the organization and success of the 2005 Budapest-Bamako Rally, an 8,000-kilometer race from the heart of Central Europe to the heart of West Africa. The team will also incorporate the assistance of local Indians to find the best roads, accommodations, activities, and scenes for the event.

Along with organizing the rally, the organizing team has planned several other activities for event participants to fulfill the experience. Among the activities planned are fishing trips in local boats, tiger watching expeditions, trekking adventures, and waterfall tours. The mapping team will also find the best tourist attractions, clubs, food, and accommodations throughout the course of the rally.

The Indian Auto Rickshaw Challenge will start on August 21, 2006 in Chennai (formerly Madras) and will end approximately 1,000 kilometers (590 miles) and seven days later in Kanniyakumari, located on the southernmost tip of the subcontinent.

IARC competitors will complete daily stages of 150-200 kilometers, making their way through monsoon rains, crowds, uncertain roads and other typically Indian obstacles. Each stage will be opened by a prominent figure, including city mayors and regional celebrities. The winner of the race will be declared the Auto Rickshaw Rally World Champion.

“The Indian Auto Rickshaw Challenge promises to be a milestone in global adventure tourism, and an unforgettable experience for participants,” says Aravind Kumar, founder and lead organizer of the Indian Auto Rickshaw Challenge.

The event has gathered excellent momentum as several teams from all over the globe have signed up to participate. Major press coverage (written, aired, televised, and photographed) has been confirmed for this exciting, first-of-its-kind adventure. The rally will take place between August 20th and August 27, 2006 starting in Chennai, India. As a breakthrough event in adventure tourism, the Indian Auto Rickshaw Challenge has attracted several rally-goers, sponsors, media venues, and participants. The event is looking to have an amazing inaugural year and promises to be an unforgettable activity for everyone involved!
