Alphera Dutton Rally Queensland Nears Sellout

The 2nd annual Alphera Dutton Rally in Queensland is expected to be sold out in the next couple of weeks due to strong demand for entries.

(PRWEB) July 3, 2006 -- The third leg of the four-state series will be one of the most competitive with up to 70 teams battling to take the points.

Over 20 different marques from the humble Holden and Ford, to the latest offerings from Porsche and Lamborghini will battle it out for line honors in up to 30 different driving tests during the popular QLD round.

The Alphera Dutton Rally Series is all about having fun with your car in safe and controlled environment. Just bring your daily driver, your helmet, and let us do the rest!
National Event Director Anthony Moss said the size and range of cars entered so far in this year's Series prove these kinds of events are the future for motoring enthusiasts.

"The Alphera Dutton Rally Series is all about having fun with your car in safe and controlled environment. Just bring your daily driver, your helmet, and let us do the rest!" Moss said.

“I think that people are starting to realise that events like these are pretty much the only places where you can drive your car to the limit competitively, safely, and with minimal modifications. We design each event to be as fun and challenging as possible, but with the safety of the competitors in mind, and with a full compliment of support and safety vehicles and personnel.”

Entry prices start at $1975 for a single driver entry, and $2590 for a team entry. The events uniqueness is that in a team entry Driver and Co-Driver both pilot the car, driving each stage in a Drivers and Co-Drivers championship, and together as a team. Entry includes three days of competition, public liability insurance, rally merchandise, all meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner per day, as well as gala dinners each evening and an awards presentation. Competitors also receive a 1hr DVD of the event, which is aired nationally on Channel Nine and Fox Sports.

The Alphera Dutton Series has origins as a serious tarmac rally event in 2000, but the Dutton Rally spans a 15 year history with its origins in Victoria.

The event developed into a National Series in 2005 and now boasts events not only in Victoria, but in Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland.

Alphera Dutton Rally managing director Sam Beck said that competitor numbers are doubling every year and there is now increasing interest from South Australia and New Zealand.

Interestingly, more than half its website page views come from the USA, and a foray into North American could be on the cards for organizers in the next few years.

"We now use a sophisticated electronic timing system to time each stage, and the events are aligned so that there are three, four and even five stages are happening at once," he said. “Competitors are even sent stage times to their mobile phone via sms the minute they pass the line, which is believed to be the only system of its type in the world.”

"The events are not just about driving, but about people. The camaraderie and networking opportunities that are developed over the three days are amazing."

"You don't even have to be a 'motorsport fan' to enjoy yourself in these events, just a love of driving!" Beck says.

The Queensland stage will be contested from 28-30th July in various locations in regional QLD and concluding on the Gold Coast. Go to www.duttonrally.com for more information.
