Apex CoVantage Adds Newspaper Digitization Capabilities Section to Its Website

Apex is commited to the preservation of the world's historical newspapers.

Herndon, VA (PRWEB) July 2, 2006 -- Apex CoVantage, a leading global knowledge process outsourcing company, has added a new section to its web site dedicated entirely to the digitization and preservation of historical newspapers.

Although libraries, universities and governments want to preserve their priceless newspaper collections in order to share with scholars, students and geneologists, newspapers present unique digitization challenges. Original materials can be damaged, skewed or discolored. Microfilm, depending on the level of technology used when created, can provide poor source images. Apex uses a variety of technologies, including IZAAC™, its proprietary intelligent zoning and algorithmic conversion system, to overcome these challenges and produce quality and highly searchable digitized output.

“Digitizing this documentary heritage is crucial to connecting who we are today to how far we have come”, says Shashi Gupta, President of Apex CoVantage, “Apex is passionately committed to the preservation of historical newspapers as a means of bridging the cultural divide.”

To date, Apex has digitized millions of pages of newspapers from the 18th century to the 21st - more than any other organization in the world - for national and academic research libraries, local historical societies, newspaper publishers and commercial aggregators. Apex’s digitization process provides the ultimate in flexibility and delivers the pages in any format required for both open source and proprietary delivery systems. To learn more about the newspaper digitization process and to read about some of the success stories, please visit Apex’s newspaper digitization website: www.apexcovantage.com/newspaper_digitization.htm.
