Hot Blues at Cool Resort: Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa Celebrates American Music, Blues at Blues on the Green
A premiere Midwest resort launches first free-to-the-public open air concert featuring national recording artists and great American cuisine.
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 2, 2006 -- This August, blues lovers are encouraged to leave the steamy hustle and bustle of the city and chill out at Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa in Galena, Ill., for the first Blues on the Green music series. The free-to-the public outdoor concerts will offer great blues from national recording artists from August 12 through September 2. The line up includes:
August 12: Lil’ Brian Terry & the Zydeco Travelers plays its own modern form of music, dubbed Z-Funk, that is both rhythmically and lyrically sophisticated.
August 19: Join the Chicago Rhythm and Blues Kings who have been blasting out their own brand of soul-steeped R&B since 1993.
August 26: The Kinsey Report first burst on the national scene fifteen years ago with street-smart, funky blues-rock. Supercharged guitar and vocals will grab die-hard blues fans and rockers alike.
September 2: John Lee Hooker, Jr. brings a unique sound that is a potent concoction of two parts R&B and one part jazz and honors a century-old family music heritage.
“Typically, blues concerts are offered in urban settings. Instead, we are offering visitors and Galena residents a unique concert experience, where attendees can enjoy performances by top musicians in a beautiful resort setting, while sampling great American cuisine prepared on-site by our chefs” says Fred Hansen, general manager.
Hungry music lovers can partake in a variety of southern-, Cajun- and Chicago- inspired gastronomical delights. Each weekend will feature music and food pairings including pulled pork; fried turkey and chicken; slow-roasted smokehouse pork ribs; shrimp and sausage jambalaya; beer braised pork dummies; corn on the cob; fried biscuits; Chicago-style hot dogs; curly fries; peach cobbler with ice cream and pecan pie prepared by the resort’s chefs and served “greenside” each weekend. A variety of beverages also will be available.
The concerts take place from 6 – 8 p.m. on the Hot Air Balloon Launch Field at Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa. Show admission is free. Food and beverages are available for purchase.
