When Color Does Matter- Visually Beautiful & Audibly Enriching

Two Brooklyn Black-American artists who have combined their visions of the color and culture of Black and packaged it to present to a world who only sees the Colored.

Berlin, (PRWEB) August 15, 2006 -- Two Brooklyn Black-American artists who have combined their visions of the color and culture of Black and packaged it to present to a world who only sees the Colored.

"The Interpretation of Black of Hanson Brown," is a multi-media exhibit comprised of four separate mediums — paintings, video, text displays and sound design will make its international debut the Gallery Twenty Four, Berlin, Germany.

This show is a collaboration between two Black-American artists who have combined their visions of the color and culture of Black. Artist, D. Lammie-Hanson and sound designer, Stanley N. Brown, of Brooklyn, N.Y., create a visual and audio experience inspired by contemporary, historical and personal exploration of what is "Black" in urban communities.

Hanson’s paintings examine the cultural strife, individual conflict, and spiritual exuberance of the Black experience. One painting inspired by history is called "The Sunday Visit". It depicts a little Black girl, unaware of any danger, naively looking on as Ku Klux Klan members rally for a march. Another painting, “Character & Curve” pays homage to the full bottom of the Black female.

Brown has created his sound design from urban Black neighborhoods worldwide. Visitors to the exhibit hear 24 songs created specifically for this show. Each song title draws upon either a historical moment or a self-realization. Eleven of the song titles are displayed on the walls as text with information “Oreo", “The Talented 10th”, “Four Little Girls” and “I AM A MAN”, to name a few.

The exhibition’s underlying themes are further expanded in an ongoing video presentation. Through visual and audio expression, Hanson and Brown share their interpretations of the Black community and their vision of the Black experience: its color and culture, pain and joy, struggle and triumph.
