New 1957 Chevy Convertible Body Unveiled at 2006 Woodward Dream Cruise

All Steel Body 1957 Chevy Convertible was shown to the world August 19, 2006 at the Woodward Dream Cruise.

(PRWEB) August 21, 2006 -- For the first time in 50 years a new steel bodied 1957 Chevy will be rolling out of Detroit -- just in time for the 50th Anniversary of the 1957 Chevy. This time around, however, these famous American autos will be produced one at a time on a jig as opposed to an assembly line.

The very first two 1957 Chevy Convertible bodies offered by CARS Inc. were revealed to the public during the 2006 Woodward Dream Cruise at the CARS Inc. (Classic Chevy Parts Maker and Retailer -- www.carsinc.com) booth.

The first of the two cars, 1957 Body #1 was a finished version in glowing silver paint, with a 2006 Corvette engine and modern chasis and suspension under it -- while 1957 Body #2 was a "body in white" in pure US Made sheetmetal -- with the body on top of an Art Morrisson performance chasis.

Thousands of visitors were able to get an up-close and personal look at these cars, and were able to ask questions to the many CARS Inc. representatives that were standing by. Special product announcements were handed out to those who visited.

Something unique about all of the 1957 Chevy Convertible bodies from CARS Inc. start with an original 1957 Chevy Cowl (which includes the dash, A-piller, and firewall), and then all brand new sheetmetal is added on top of this - including a fully welded floor, fenders, complete doors, top bows, rear deck lid, and front hood). This makes these cars officially "restored" cars with a vehicle identification number from the original 1957 Chevy donor car.

Pricing for these 1957 Chevy Convertible Bodies is still being finalized, but it is expected that they will be available for close to $30,000 without a chasis. Currently, a restored 1957 Chevy Convertible sells for $70,000 to $100,000, so it is important to CARS inc. to offer these USA Made bodies, rolling chasis, and complete turn-key cars for a price that can meet or be below that restored car amount.

If the response from the Woodward Dream Cruise is any indication, then the release of these new steel bodies from CARS Inc. is very exciting news.
