Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) September 8, 2006 -- Top Publications, Ltd., a fiction book publisher, announces the release of Cactus Island, the seventh in William Manchee's popular legal mystery series featuring Dallas attorney Stan Turner and his partner Paula Waters. In the series Turner & Waters is a high profile criminal defense firm that has a reputation for attracting impossible cases and getting in over their heads.
In this latest novel Manchee may have created a new genre–legal science fiction. Stan is called out to Possum Kingdom Lake in central Texas where there has been a Jeep accident and a boy scout has died. When the assistant scout master is charged with negligent homicide he asks Stan to defend him, but Stan is reluctant to do so because the kid's excuse for the accident is that he was distracted by an alien spacecraft hovering overhead. Have aliens landed at Possum Kingdom Lake? That's what Stan must prove to convince a jury that Steven Caldwell is innocent.
William Manchee grew up in Ventura, California in the 60s. After obtaining his BA from UCLA in 1965 he and his family moved to Texas in 1970 where Manchee attended law school at SMU. A resident of Plano, Texas he and his wife Janet have been married nearly 40 years and raised four children. Inspired by twenty years of true life experiences as an attorney, Manchee discovered his passion for writing in 1995. Since then he has written twelve books and plans to write a book a year for the rest of his life.
Other Stan Turner Mysteries include: Undaunted, Brash Endeavor, Second Chair, Cash Call, Deadly Distractions, and Black Monday. In addition Manchee writes the Rich Coleman series, Death Pact and Plastic Gods, and his non-fiction book, Yes, We're Open, Defending The Small Business Under Siege, has been reprinted in five foreign countries.
