Note Card and Holiday Card Fundraiser for Parkinson's Disease

When you buy holiday greeting cards this year, get the most for your money by choosing those that help support causes in which you believe. The Arizona Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association (AZ-APDA) is debuting holiday and note cards featuring the designs of native son Jim Sudal, well known in the American southwest for capturing the unique beauty of desert plants in his handcrafted and signed pottery.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) September 9, 2006 -- When you buy holiday greeting cards this year, get the most for your money by choosing those that help support causes in which you believe. The Arizona Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association (AZ-APDA) is debuting holiday and note cards featuring the designs of native son Jim Sudal, well known in the American southwest for capturing the unique beauty of desert plants in his handcrafted and signed pottery.

David Richter, President of the Board of Directors of AZ-APDA, stated: “The Arizona Chapter of APDA is very excited about the new greeting and holiday card program. Thanks to Jim Sudal and his bold southwestern artwork, and the great graphic layouts done by our friend Jean Burns, I think the cards will be a big part of our fundraising to support the programs and services we provide to Arizonans with Parkinson's disease and their families.”

Wanting to help friend and fellow artist, Jean Burns, in her battle with Parkinson's disease, Sudal partnered with her to transfer some of his favorite designs onto holiday and note cards. All proceeds from the sale of these cards will go to AZ-APDA’s fight against PD. One to 1.5 million Americans have PD.

Sudal’s cards feature blooming aloes, a saguaro cactus, an agave, and a prickly pear cactus. They can be ordered as an assortment, or as individual designs. Customized greetings can be added with larger quantities. Order on line through Arizona Chapter of APDA or on Sudal's Web site at Jim Sudal Pottery - Cards

A self-taught artist, Sudal turned his passion for the plants of the Sonoran Desert into a full-time business, devoted to doing his pottery, mosaics, and other work. One of Sudal’s mosaic murals is featured in Phoenix Home and Garden magazine’s September “Best of the Southwest” issue. His “Tough Lovelies: Agaves & Yuccas in Art” can be seen through October 29 at the Tohono Chul Park Exhibit Hall in Tucson; and he will be exhibiting at the Celebration of Fine Arts in Scottsdale, January 13 – March 25, 2007.
