Silanis’ Electronic Signature Software Passes Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) Testing

Silanis Technology, the U.S. government’s largest supplier of GPEA, E-Gov, OMB, and E-SIGN compliant, electronic signatures, today announced that its ApproveIt Desktop 5.7.2 software has passed testing for the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI). The Navy and Marine Corps can now join its Army counterparts, who deployed Silanis’ electronic signature software across its entire enterprise earlier this year, in eliminating paper from daily operations requiring signature approvals.

Montreal, QC (PRWEB) September 14, 2006 -- Silanis Technology, the U.S. government’s largest supplier of GPEA, E-Gov, OMB, and E-SIGN compliant, electronic signatures, today announced that its ApproveIt Desktop 5.7.2 software has passed testing for the Navy Marine Corporate Intranet (NMCI). The Navy Marine Corps can now join its Army counterparts, who deployed Silanis’ electronic signature software across its entire enterprise earlier this year, in eliminating paper from daily operations requiring signature approvals.

By passing NMCI tests, ApproveIt® Desktop 5.7.2 can be adopted by Navy and Marine organizations with the assurance that the electronic signature software is compatible with the Navy’s existing technology infrastructure today. The solution is available on Gold Build Number 2.12. Furthermore, as a JITC-certified, PKI-enabled application, ApproveIt Desktop can easily be extended to any PKI solution the Navy chooses to deploy in the future.

Both ApproveIt Desktop and Silanis’ professional services are available on the GSA schedule, providing the Navy a complete solution in support of their paperless initiative. This includes:
1) a secure, electronic signing application that is compliant with GPEA, E-Gov, OMB and E-SIGN requirements, 2) professional services to ensure a quick and successful rollout, and 3) product training to promote high user acceptance and adoption.

ApproveIt Desktop combines the security of a digital signature with a legally enforceable process and advanced automation features to ensure compliance with applicable laws, standards and regulations. Silanis’ professional services, on the other hand, remove the risk of project delays, cost overruns, and non-compliant implementations. The services range from mapping out the legal, compliance, workflow and IT requirements - to ensuring tight integration with existing technology investments, such as the DoD PKI and common access cards (CAC) - to helping prepare government documents and forms to receive electronic signatures.

Earlier this year, the US Army became the first agency to successfully combine existing DoD investments in digital signature technology with Silanis’ off-the-shelf application to achieve a paperless electronic signing process. Silanis' electronic signing application was integrated in an automated, document management process that leverages the DoD PKI, Tumbleweed's real-time CRL verification utilizing OCSP, Common Access Cards (CAC), and IBM WorkPlace forms.

The DoD PKI, Common Access Cards, and CRL verification provide the assurance that users are who they say they are. Silanis’ application, which is built on top of digital signature technology, ensures that the contents of an electronically signed document can't be modified without detection or authorization, and that a permanent audit trail of the process is created to record the intent of all parties.

Silanis’ electronic signing application can also be securely used without PKI if the infrastructure is not yet in place or for the many lower risk processes that do not justify the added cost and complexity of a PKI. An alternative method of user authentication supported by the solution is to create a ‘self-signed’ digital certificate for processes shared amongst known and trusted users. Upon entering a private password, the user’s unique self-signed certificate is added to the audit trail of the electronic signature, which is then permanently embedded within the document to provide user authentication.

Silanis’ solutions are being used for a wide range of internal and external-facing signing processes by dozens of US government agencies.
