Fun fall family events, festivals, and Ontario fall fairs will keep the kids and family engaged and excited about travel North of Toronto to see the fall colors in Ontario's Cottage Country.

Barrie, ON (PRWEB) September 13, 2006 -- Several unique Canadian events take place on the weekend of September 15, 16, 17 for travelers heading north into cottage country. In addition to the many fall fairs, this is a perfect time of year to see the Ontario fall colors http://400eleven.com/colour-report.html .

There are two venues with unique fun family activities. The Canadian Automotive Institute in Barrie, is hosting the 21st, annual Georgian College Outdoor Auto Show (http://www.georgianc.on.ca/autoshow/), the largest venue of its kind in North America. Just a half hour up Highway 400 in Midland, the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre is hosting the 21st Canadian Wildlife Carving Championships in conjunction with their Fall Family Festival (http://www.wyemarsh.com/events_fallfestival.html).

“These events provide some of the best value entertainment for a weekend outing with the family,” according to Ron Taylor, publisher of Ontario Travel North of Toronto http://www.400eleven.com .

"The auto show will thrill kids with the turbo-charged test track in addition to the ‘Big Rig Exhibit’ and the ‘KidZone’. Kids get to climb in and out of cars as well as the big rigs. Watch for the tents and all the action just before the Highway 400, Highway 11 interchange off of Highway 400 at Duckworth at the north end of Barrie,” adds Taylor.

Visitors to the Wye Marsh Fall Festival will see many amazing life-like carvings of birds and animals, in addition to all of the family activities. Family canoe rides with Wye Marsh naturalists, children's crafts, Birds of Prey Shows including hawks, falcons and owls, dip-netting and geo-caching are just some of the fun outdoor activities taking place. During the day, visitors will be entertained with continuous music and a variety of folk, country, rhythm and blues. Visitors will also see frogs, turtles, snakes, Trumpeter Swans and beautiful fall colours as the leaves are changing. Admission per person is $10. Family passes are available. Camping is permitted on the 3,600-acre site for an additional charge.

A quintessential outdoors Canadian experience can be found at the Fall Fair. Enjoy livestock shows, fresh produce and "the best of contests". Today, the fall fairs still bring together the farming community and the public with many fun events, harvest activities, homemade products, including arts and crafts, and the competitive side and tradition of deciding who has the best at the "Fall Fair". Fairs take place north of Toronto this weekend including the Bracebridge Fall Fair, Oro World's Fall Fair, Shelbourne Fall Fair, Feversham Fair, and more fall fairs can be found at Ontario Fall Fairs September http://400eleven.com/fall-fairs.html .
