Music Documentary Being Filmed in Pittsburgh
”The Project: Pittsburgh” is a reality-edged documentary tracing the creative process when musicians from opposite spectrums are merged into new bands and put on a clock to develop original material. Preliminary production and filming began here in Pittsburgh during August, and filming will continue throughout November.
(PRWEB) September 13, 2006 -- Aptly chosen, The Switch on East Carson Street in the South Side of Pittsburgh is hosting the documentary's kick off this September, where the musicians will gather and the new bands will be formed -- with just one rule; no 2 original band members can end up in the same band.
"The hope is to merge musical styles in the bands and raise the bar of mutual collaboration", says Adam Koisor, the film's Executive Producer / Director, "... I like the idea that everyone is willing to do something musically that people don't usually do around here...work together towards a common goal."
Approximately 40-50 musicians from both national and local bands have signed on for the documentary. This eclectic mix of merged talent includes musicians of all realms from heavy-metal and rock, blues and jazz, hip-hop, rap, americana folk, classical, punk, country and blue-grass.
"There's even one guy who plays the jug", says Koisor, "This musical melting pot could potentially create a whole new genre in the music arena."
After the kick-off party, each band will be filmed and critiqued during the timed creative period, all gearing up for a live show in November. The show's location is to be announced.
Also signed on with "The Project: Pittsburgh", is spokesmodel/writer Elizabeth Rossi, and television/radio producer Conor Garrity.
