North Carolina Artist Peggy Dey Opens Animal Art Studio
One of North Carolina's leading animal artists has opened a studio in New Hill that offers pet portraits, wildlife prints, slate etchings and more. The popular artist's work has been showcased by numerous animal advocacy organizations.
NEW HILL, NC (PRWEB) September 13, 2006 -- Peggy Dey, a leading animal artist in North Carolina whose work has been featured by numerous animal advocacy organizations, has opened Dey by Dey Studio in New Hill. The specialized art studio offers commissioned animal and pet portraits in pastel, slate etching and watercolor as well as original and print wildlife art.
Dey is a lifetime animal advocate and artist who brings a passion for capturing the lives and loves of each creature into every image she creates. She has been creating animal art for more than 30 years, and participates in rescue and rehabilitation efforts for both domestic and wild animals. Her work has been showcased by the Chatham Animal Rescue and Education (C.A.R.E.), Apex Veterinary Clinic, Carnivore Preservation Trust and Wildlife Welfare of Raleigh. Non-profit organizations often use her artistic images on T-shirts, holiday cards and other organizational materials.
In addition to her unique wildlife art, which is influenced by Native American works, Dey is in high demand as a pet portrait artist. Animal companions are an important part of many families and offer joy, comfort, love and a healthy dose of laughter everyday. Pet portraits therefore make wonderful gifts on birthdays, holidays or any occasion.
Dey often creates portraits from a selection of photographs of animals she has never met, as well as commissioned works that serve as memorials of pets that have passed away. "I try to see the animal's spirit and bring that out in the finished work," she says. "My hope is that my customers will look at the final piece and feel that I have given them a permanent part of their special companion to keep with them forever. If someone has to wipe a tear or two away after looking at their pet's portrait, I know I have succeeded. Each piece is as individual as the animal that is its inspiration. My hope is to capture that unique spirit in a highly focused and dedicated work."
The result is a host of happy customers. “Peggy did a pastel portrait of my cat, Fee, when Fee was nearly 20 years old,” says Laura Rapoport of Boston. “Peggy captured not only Fee's unique coloring and quiet expression, but more unbelievably, her gentle soul. I don't know how she did it. Years later, that portrait hangs in my den and I feel as if Fee is still with me. Peggy is a very special artist.”
Dey by Dey Studio also offers commissioned children's room murals, slate etchings, wildlife portraits, personalized specialty or holiday cards and prints.
