Automatic Life, Inc. Makes Plea To Public For Support Of Minority Organ Donor Awareness
"Nonprofit minority organ donor awareness group seeks public help to continue to save lives."
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) September 15, 2006 -- Automatic Life, Inc. a nonprofit organization aimed at focusing on increasing minority organ donations targeting African American and Hispanic communities, announced today that they desperately need more support from the public to increase minority organ donations and awareness about this serious health issue. Requesting that the public assist by helping spread the word to increase minority organ donations. In addition, the group is activity seeking to gain support from big name celebrities and charity foundations.
Recently the nonprofit agency has launched a series of campaigns in hopes of efforts to encourage minorities to become organ donors. On their website any person can download a card and become an instant organ donor. The agency also continually focuses on healthy eating habits to prevent diseases that cause the need for transplants. Acknowledging that knowledge is power and one organ donor can save as many as eight lives.
According to the National Kidney Foundation and the New York Organ Donor Network On Kidney Disease, “Due to high rates of diabetes, high blood pressure and glomerulonephritis, African Americans have an increased risk of developing kidney failure, which requires dialysis treatments or a kidney transplant to sustain life.” In addition, “African Americans experience kidney failure about 4 to 6 times more often than White Americans with diabetes. High blood pressure is the second leading cause of kidney failure among African Americans, accounting for 34% of the new cases each year. African Americans represent 13% of the American population but make up 35% of those on kidney transplant waiting lists.”
“Our cause is one that is not widely supported in the public and we must raise awareness for minority organ donations in order to continue to save lives,” Said Andrea Gwyn, Director of Automatic Life, Inc. “We need community volunteers and financial assistance nationally to continue to spread our massage.”
Gwyn stated that the nonprofit agency is working hard to increase publicity surrounding their cause. Which is the best way to increase sponsorships and endorsements. The public must be made aware of just how serious it is to make minority organ donor awareness a top health priority.
