Here is a sampling of three interesting and recent cell phone related news articles.

1. Samsung's new cell phone is for the jet set world traveler.

On September 13th, Samsung and SK Telecom unveiled its international cell phone (Model: SCH-V920) that is capable of handling 3(CDMA, European GSM, Japan's JCDMA) system signals, allowing roaming in ninety different countries around the world. This is the first time anyone has come up with world roaming cell phone.
SCH-V90 comes in gray, bright red, silver and white colors with price tag of about $500.00. See full story at http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,127117-page,1-c,cellphones/article.html

2. Beware of "Blinko"

Peg Lee doesn't understand what cell phone wallpaper is, but she's paying for it. It costs her $19.95 a month.
Each and every month, charges from an Italian company — doing business in the United States as Blinko — for products Lee neither wanted or received are on her Verizon Wireless phone bill. Wallpaper, ringtones and other downloadable product charges keep showing up on the phone bills , despite many attempts to cancel the service, Lee said.
Blinko, also known as Buongiorno USA, is being investigated by the Florida Attorney General's Office and a national class-action lawsuit.
Calls and e-mails to Blinko, which has its U.S. headquarters in Miami, FL were not answered. See full story at http://www.azstarnet.com/business/145878

3. Bad news: Cellular providers are ranked number one in complaints-even beating out airlines!

Maybe it's a $3-a-month charge from Verizon for Roadside Assistance that you can not remember requesting. Or maybe it is an $18 "upgrade fee" that Cingular Wireless forgot to mention when you bought that new Motorola Razr phone. Or maybe you're just upset about dropped calls.

Whatever the cause, many are peeved with their cell phone company. Consumers are mad, and the lawsuits are hitting the fans. According to the BBB, cell phone companies drew 30,483 complaints last year to become the top-ranked industry for grievances. The most common complaints: inaccurate bills, inadequate customer service, and deceptive contract terms. Cell phone companies were the subject of more complaints than such perennially unpopular businesses as car dealerships, hotels, retail outlets, and insurance companies, BBB statistics show.

"I believe that the rise in customer dissatisfaction in the cell phone industery is due to the fact that the cell phones do not offer nearly perfect service as land line phones do and people are comparing their cellular experiences with much more reliable land line services." states Bill Cannon, CEO of Westerncell.com. "Also, people are adjusting to the Cingular-AT&T Wireless and Sprint-Nextel mergers." See full story at http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,126939-page,1-
