New Hope for Organic Lifestyles in Derbyshire Village

Eco Eco's new shop selling organic and ethical clothing and accesories was opened by the renowned environmental broadcaster and author Penney Poyzer today. The store provides well designed goods for consumers with a conscience.

(PRWEB) September 17, 2006 -- Today (16 September 2006), Eco Eco launched the latest initiative in their venture to sell exciting clothing and accessories that combine environmental and social awareness with sophisticated design. They opened their first retail outlet in Hope, a picturesque village in the heart of the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire.

Penney Poyzer, renowned environmental author and broadcaster, helped to launch the new venture as guest of honour at the opening event of the new shop. She said: “I'm delighted to be associated with the opening of Eco Eco. We need shops like this, providing us with well designed ethical and environmentally friendly goods so that we can all become conscious consumers of well made, high quality goods that don't cost the earth and give a fair return to workers.”

The shop, which stocks stylish organic and ethically traded women’s, children’s and men’s clothing along with body care and accessories, is just one of many in the village that sells fairly traded goods. In fact, the village and neighbouring areas are just about to submit their application for Fairtrade status to the Fairtrade Foundation. The new Eco Eco shop will be the latest addition to the caring retailers already operating in the area and aiming for the official status.

Alison Jackson Bass, owner of Eco Eco said “It feels so good to be opening our shop in this village. We can truly say where there is Hope….there is fair trade. Since the business started in January 2005 we have taken our travelling store to communities across the country and done business internationally online. This move to put down roots is a very exciting step for us. Even more so because we will be working in a beautiful location and in a community that shares our beliefs and trading ethics.”

Hope is situated in an ideal location for Eco Eco. It has a strong sense of community and attracts visitors, tourists and holidaymakers, so the scope for developing their already local, national and international customer base is excellent.

Opportunities for the ethical consumer in the surrounding area, from Sheffield to Manchester, are limited. So, local shoppers with a conscience will now be able to use Eco Eco as an alternative to online shopping.
