Smart Talk Productions and Jackstreet Media Team up to Launch 'Intelligent Entertainment' Network for Women
Smart Talk Women’s Lecture Series goes digital.
Toronto, ON (PRWEB) September 15, 2006 -- Today Bob Benia, creator and producer of The Smart Talk Women’s Lecture Series, and Jackstreet Media announced the launch of the Smart Talk Women’s Network, (www.smarttalkondemand.com), an online new media venture, offering intelligent entertainment for women. The network was inspired by the strong demand for the Smart Talk Women’s Lecture Series, a multi-city live event that has been bringing top-tier talent, to sell-out crowds in venues across Canada and the United States since 1992. Aimed initially at the one million plus women who have patronized the series over the past 16 years, the new online offering is designed to be a social and business networking hub for the interesting, inspiring and compelling women who are shaping today’s fast-paced world.
The Smart Talk Women’s Network will feature Smart Talk Radio, a program that will stream podcast and Nanocast exclusive celebrity previews and highlights of live performances. Past Smart Talk guests, to name a few, have included Barbara Walters, Katie Couric, Jane Fonda, Dr. Maya Angelou, Lesley Stahl, Bianca Jagger, Suze Orman, Whoopi Goldberg, Julie Andrews, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, the late Honorable Ann Richards, Coretta Scott King and Dana Reeve. The network will also showcase new voices and inspirational stories of hope and courage that you won’t hear on terrestrial radio or see on television. The programming mix will include in depth interviews with emerging female authors and engaging commentary from politicians and business leaders about the real stories behind the headlines. All programs will be available 24/7, on demand. Other features on the network include forums, photo sharing, an interview archive, a bookstore, gift shop, an eZine and periodic live chats from back stage at the live events.
“Since 1992 we’ve been committed to being the premier source of intelligent entertainment for women. We’re now looking to extend the ‘Smart Talk Experience’ to women worldwide and across many different platforms,” said Bob Benia, president of Bob Benia Productions and founder of the Smart Talk Women’s Lecture Series. “Our association with Jackstreet Media will give to the new venture a leading edge and a most definite competitive advantage when it comes to delivering our content through the most effective and profitable channels,” Benia said.
The plan to put Smart Talk online has been well received. “We’re excited about Smart Talk’s expansion to new platforms. Bob has proven that he knows this market segment better than most, can deliver what they want and do it profitably. He has successfully transformed the traditional lecture into a high value entertainment event,” said Betsy Berg, senior vice president of William Morris Agency. “We anticipate that Bob’s energy and creativity will open up more opportunities for our clients and evolve this venture into a popular new media venue,” said Berg.
The joint venture to build the Smart Talk Network was formed in September 2005 to develop an online platform for the very successful Smart Talk Women’s Lecture Series. The business model and strategic plan for the network were developed by Jackstreet Media, a new media venture firm based in Los Angeles, California. The network will have a number of hosts including some up and coming female talent, Bob Benia and Emmy winning broadcaster Errol Smith, who is also executive producer of Smart Talk Radio. ”Over the last 16 years Bob Benia has built an extraordinary offering for women. We are thrilled to collaborate with Bob and his team to take his creation to a worldwide audience using digital media,” said Smith. The program will be syndicated on The Affiliate Nanocasting Network.
“Jackstreet Media has proven media, ecommerce and business development chops. We’re confident that we’ve found the combination of skill sets we need to realize our vision,” said Benia.
