Music Gone to the Dogs: 2nd Annual Heart of Texas Lab Rescue Music Benefit

Continental Club will host the 2nd annual Heart of Texas Lab Rescue (HOTLR) concert benefit Oct. 5 starting at 9:45pm featuring Topaz, A Band Named Sue and Matt McCormack & the Rock Bottom Choir.

(PRWEB) September 23, 2006 -- The Heart of Texas Lab Rescue (HOTLR) hosts its 2nd Annual Music Benefit “Music Gone To The Dogs,” at The Continental Club, Thursday, Oct. 5. This year’s line up features an evening of great Austin music with Topaz, A Band Named Sue and Matt McCormack and the Rock Bottom Choir, who are all donating their time and talents. The show starts at 9:45pm. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Saxophonist Topaz McGarringle starts off the evening with his soulful, funky jazz rhythmic sound. Originally from the Texas Hill Country, this blues singing, harmonica player has performed with artists including Norah Jones and Widespread Panic and appeared at festivals including Bonaroo, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Austin City Limits (ACL).

Next up, pull up your boots and get ready to warm up the dance floor with A Band Named Sue, a premier Johnny Cash cover band who plays a wide variety of music celebrating the life of the Man in Black as well as country classics and other standards.

Originally from Memphis, Tenn., now living in California, Matt McCormack remains a prominent figure in the Austin music scene and will be in town with his supergroup, the Rock Bottom Choir, to wrap up the night performing their alternative root American pop rock.

The Continental Club (1315 South Congress Ave.) has been hosting live entertainment in South Austin since 1957.

All proceeds benefit HOT Lab Rescue, a non-profit organization rescuing Labrador Retrievers from shelters and abandonment situations and placing them in loving, caring homes in the Central Texas Area.

Donations can also be sent directly to the organization at:
