Chinese Film wins at Venice Film Festival,exposing the Three River Gorges Dam Atrocity

Film Still Life directed by Jia Zhang-ke wins Golden Lion award. This reveals to the world a great injustice. Tha injustice being the forced relocation of over a million Chinese in order to build a dam.

Washington D.C. (PRWEB) September 24, 2006 -- On September 9,2006, the Chinese film Still Life won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in Venice, Italy. The Golden Lion is the highest award given at this festival.

Jia Zhang-ke directed this film about the village of Fengjie and how it was destroyed by the construction of the Three Gorges Dam. The film tells the story of the people who returned to this village.

The Chinese Government forced 1.13 million Chinese to relocate in order to make way for the dam, disrupting and often ruining the lives of those affected.

French actress and jury president Catherine Deneuve commented on “the beauty of the cinematography and the quality of the story,without getting political,the characters…we know it’s a very special film.”

Simon Thomas, the Director of Public Relations for the China Support Network, stated that, "This is a important moment in the Chinese freedom ,movement.
