Zero Surge's WVR-TSC™ OEM Power Quality Filter Named Product of the Year by Electronic Products Magazine

WVR-TSC™ OEM Power Quality Filter garners award for innovative advancement in surge suppression.

Frenchtown, NJ (PRWEB) January 20, 2007 -- Zero Surge® (www.ZeroSurge.com), a pioneer in surge suppression technology and leading manufacturer of power quality filters, is proud to announce that its WVR-TSC™ OEM power quality filter has been named Product of the Year by Electronic Products magazine. A new, groundbreaking technology, WVR-TSC™ (Wide Voltage Range, Total Surge Cancellation) offers unsurpassed powerline protection that totally cancels damaging surge energy.

The editors of Electronic Products--a leading trade publication for electronic design engineers-- evaluated thousands of products launched in 2006 on the basis of innovative design, significant advancement in technology or application and substantial achievement in price and performance. The WVR-TSC™ OEM power quality filter demonstrated success in surge suppression by establishing never before seen levels of performance and endurance.

"To have our WVR-TSC™ OEM Power Quality Filter selected by the editors of Electronic Products as Product of the Year is a true honor," noted Rudy Harford, Chief Engineer of Zero Surge. "WVR-TSC™ was just one of thousands of new and revolutionary electronic products introduced by manufacturers in 2006, and to stand out among the competition in the eyes of one of the industry's leading publications, speaks directly to what our team of engineers has been able to accomplish in offering our customers the highest level of surge protection available today. By incorporating Zero Surge's WVR-TSC™ technology into their designs, our customers are able to significantly improve the feature set of their products and offer their end users total peace of mind when it comes to protection from the powerline," concluded Mr. Harford.

"Sensitive, mission-critical equipment used in military, medical, and industrial applications requires as much circuit protection as possible," said Ralph Raiola, editor of Electronic Products. "However, the complete elimination of surges has been something outside the realm of possibility of traditional shunt mode and series-mode protection devices. Operable over the 85 to 265-V range, the patented WVR-TSC™ power quality filters are the industry's first to provide total surge cancellation by filtering off the most dangerous surge frequencies and canceling the remaining residual surge voltage."

As soon as the WVR-TSC™ OEM power quality filter encounters a transient surge, the surge is filtered and delayed. At the same time, an auxiliary winding develops a cancelling voltage, which is generated from surge current flow in the transformer. Adding the cancelling voltage to the delayed residual surge voltage prevents any residual surge voltage from exceeding the power wave peak voltage, reducing the surge voltage let-through to zero. The damaging surge energy is totally removed and will have no effect on any downstream electronic equipment.

WVR-TSC™ power quality filters do not use sacrificial components, such as metal oxide varistors (MOVs), and are certified to withstand up to 1,000 of the worst case category-B surges, which measure 6,000 Volts / 3,000 Amps. According to the American National Standards Institutes' report on the typical surge environment (ANSI C62.41), 6,000 Volts / 3,000 Amps power surges can occur up to 100 times per year meaning the technology has a minimum 10 year life.

The 2006 Product of the Year Awards were announced in the January 2007 issue of Electronic Products (http://electronicproducts.com) with a cover feature and a brief description of each product. 2006 marks the 31st anniversary of Electronic Products' "Product of the Year" Awards, which began recognizing the best products in the industry in 1977.

For over 17 years, Zero Surge's patented products have been providing unequalled, unfailing powerline surge protection for numerous industries. Ranging from the convenient and economical 2R-Series, featuring two outlet units, to the more fully-featured 8R-Series, with eight outlets and a built-in circuit breaker to prevent overloading, Zero Surge power filters are rugged and built to withstand the most demanding electrical environments. Ensuring an added level of confidence, Zero Surge units are not sacrificial, will not wear out, and each one comes with a 10-year limited warranty and a Lifetime Service Agreement.

Zero Surge's WVR-TSC™ technology is protected under United States Patent #7,068,487 and is available for purchase by calling 1-800-996-6696. For more information on Zero Surge Inc., please visit www.ZeroSurge.com.

Zero Surge Inc. manufactures non-degrading power quality filters, certified by UL for safety, endurance and performance. In business since 1989, the company's patented filters eliminate the surge damage and equipment loss often experienced with sacrificial MOV (metal oxide varistor) type surge suppressors. Zero Surge Inc. has over 50 models accommodating a wide range of applications. Corporations, medical operations, universities, ocean vessels, the U.S. military and government, manufacturing plants, banks, utilities, and homeowners are just some of the customers relying on Zero Surge filters. The products do not contain sacrificial MOVs which wear out with use, can fail, and have caused fires.
