HP Ranks No. 1 in U.S. High-volume Digital Press Market

HP today announced that InfoTrends Inc., an industry analyst firm, ranked the HP Indigo press line as the leading brand for digital presses in the U.S. high-volume segment.

Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) April 20, 2007 -- HP today announced that InfoTrends Inc., an industry analyst firm, ranked the HP Indigo press line as the leading brand for digital presses in the U.S. high-volume segment.(1)

During the 2006 calendar year, HP Indigo presses reached a 41.9 percent market share in the high-volume segment, growing at an industry best 49.5 percent year-over-year.

The Opportunity for Print On Demand Solutions in the Label Industry
Representing the highest quality, highest volume digital color production devices on the market, the 1 million-plus production segment includes the HP Indigo presses 3050, 5000, w3200 and w3250, as well as devices from Xerox, Kodak and Xeikon.
In the report, InfoTrends showed that HP Indigo leads the market by 9 percentage points, after having gained 8 percentage points in market share year-over-year. According to the report, “The 1 million-plus duty cycle segment experienced solid growth in 2006 but it was HP Indigo that achieved much of this growth.”

In addition, the number of impressions printed on HP Indigo presses worldwide grew by 40 percent year-over-year.(2)

“In 2006, we advanced our digital press offerings through a variety of different introductions, including new presses, inks and media, and new workflow and finishing solutions,” said Rich Raimondi, vice president and general manager, U.S. Graphic Arts Business, Imaging and Printing Group, HP. “But beyond our technology offerings, we’re leading the market with key business development programs, such as our HP Indigo Capture program, and it’s through these value-add initiatives that we’re driving the adoption of HP Indigo digital technology in the U.S. market.”

In addition to this most recent report, a 2006 study from InfoTrends stated that HP Indigo is also the market leader in digital color label presses.(3)

HP’s broad portfolio of high-end digital presses is geared for commercial printing applications, such as marketing collateral, photo merchandise, direct mail and publishing, and industrial printing applications such as labels and packaging. Using patented liquid HP ElectroInk, HP Indigo presses combine outstanding color accuracy, consistency and the quality of offset printing with variable-data capabilities that increase the effectiveness of printed communications – including both text and images – for target audiences.
