Queen's Visit to Virginia Capitol to be Shown on Live Webcast

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, II will visit Virginia's Capitol on Thursday, May 3rd in Richmond. The Queen's historic visit will include a walkabout on Capitol Square and a special address to a Joint session of the Virginia General Assembly. Virginia's Royal Welcome, a public celebration on Capitol Square where people can see The Queen, will also feature performances by Virginia musical artists. Those who cannot make it to Richmond will be able to view Her Majesty's visit live on the web.

Richmond, Virginia (PRWEB) May 3, 2007 -- Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, II will visit Virginia's Capitol on Thursday, May 3rd in Richmond. The Queen's historic visit will include a walkabout on Capitol Square and a special address to a Joint session of the Virginia General Assembly. Virginia's Royal Welcome, a public celebration on Capitol Square where people can see The Queen, will also feature performances by Virginia musical artists. The webcast will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m. and will show The Queen's walkabout and address to the General Assembly live inside the Capitol.

The Queen and His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, will visit Virginia May 3 and 4 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Jamestown. Governor Kaine will serve as the Commonwealth's official host for the Royal visit to Virginia.

The Queen will address the General Assembly in Virginia's historic State Capitol on May 3. The Virginia General Assembly traces its origins to the House of Burgesses at Jamestown in 1619. It is heralded as the oldest continuous law-making body in the New World.

The State Capitol, designed by Thomas Jefferson, is a National Historic Landmark, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2004, the Capitol underwent an extensive, three-year restoration and expansion project.
